Job Purpose: 

Pfizer’s ADAPT team are focused on delivering Data Science techniques & technologies to reimagine our business processes and accelerate productivity and performance through the automation of transactions. Our goal is to transition digital & technology from supporting operations to driving operations and enabling faster and better decisions.

The ADAPT Data Scientist role is to implement digital solutions that support the manufacture of life-saving pharmaceutical products that are in line with an unwavering commitment to quality including current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) and data integrity (DI) standards. 

This role is focused on providing high quality data analytics support to products manufactured across Pfizer's manufacturing network. This role will be focussed on development of novel document automation and data visualisation use cases to provide right first-time digital solutions to address simplification, standardisation and efficiency gaps in current Quality business processes. It is important that quality approaches and data integrity principles are embedded in every process and procedure. All data entry activities need to be performed to these standards and to support business needs.


Job Responsibilities:


ADAPT Data Scientist:

  • Development, qualification and deployment of product databases that include evolving data aggregation models from disparate data sources
  • Delivery of routine statistical support to assure continued compliance within the general expectations of cGMPs for products manufactured in the network (Continued Process Verification, Stability & Method Control analysis & APQR)
  • Design and implementation of advanced analytical models that support manufacturing process robustness
  • Support and provide statistical guidance for manufacturing investigations that have the potential to impact supply
  • Collaborates closely with key project stakeholders in the manufacturing environment on the provision of statistical services that support the development of experimental designs for next generation manufacturing processes
  • Provide data analytics support to the manufacturing organization when required during investigations, new process introduction or change implementation in commercial manufacturing operations. Technical support may involve trouble-shooting and analysis to support identification of root cause
  • Provision of solutions that lead to colleagues being able to conduct their own data analyses rather than using our statisticians
  • Participate, from a statistical perspective, in the development of departmental technologies, SOPs, processes and procedures
  • Manages their own time to meet objectives, while being aware of project deadlines and group dependencies
  • Ensures all training is completed and documented
  • Supports in audit readiness efforts and audit support as required
  • Communicate and interact with colleagues and leadership at multiple levels
  • Ensures any issues identified are escalated and contribute to problem solving where possible
  • Escalates concerns to ADAPT Management in relation to team, projects milestones and stakeholder issues in a timely and appropriate manner, highlighting possible solutions
  • Supports team planning and goal attainment
  • Effectively recognises the team’s accomplishments and acknowledges contributors


Education/Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science or related field is advantageous.
  • Minimum 3 to 4 Years relevant work Experience.
  • Experience in data wrangling (ETL) and database engineering (development and maintenance of databases)
  • Strong experience in the use of statistical tools, analytical methodologies and programming languages (Visual Basic Object oriented programming, SQL, R, Python, Visual Basic etc.). Experience of using Tibco's data science analytical platform is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts: regression and classification, clustering, latent variable models, curse of dimensionality, bias-variance trade-off, neural networks, SVMs, etc.
  • Experience in Data visualisation techniques and software packages (R shiny, Tableau & Spotfire)
  • Proven success working with large disparate data sets to elicit actionable insights.
  • Capability to provide statistical guidance to cross-functional teams
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in relating to colleagues and associates both inside and outside the organization.
