USA - SaT - Capital Equipment Valuation Engineer - Intern - Summer 2025
About our business
EY’s Strategy and Transactions (SaT) professionals work with clients to create social and economic value by helping them make better, more informed decisions about strategically managing capital and transactions in fast-changing markets. Working in SaT is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to become a world-class business advisor to some of the largest and most prestigious companies in the world. You will gain technical expertise, access to a variety of industries, holistic views of clients’ issues and strategic objectives, as well as deep knowledge and firsthand experience with the range of value-creating solutions we provide. We believe that by helping companies manage their capital agenda and driving their competitive advantage, we’ll help them increase returns through improved decisions across all aspects of their capital agenda - and here you’ll be right at the heart of that mission.
What you will do
As a Capital Equipment Valuation Engineer Intern, you’ll be taking and combining engineering and financial aspects to value and strategically advise on clients’ machinery and equipment assets. In a role where there is no typical day, you’ll need to be able to jump between analytics, modeling, client presentations but also travel out to plants to interview financial managers, production engineers, and CFO’s responsible for their manufacturing operations. It’s an opportunity to understand how things are manufactured, come together, and how a business works in corporate environments across the globe. You will have the opportunity to be part of a larger Valuation Solutions team that creates and delivers broad, analytics-enabled solutions that align to our client’s focus on corporate finance, strategy, buy and integrate or sell and separate decisions, and reshaping of results.
You’ll need to be adaptable and be able to split your time between different roles and responsibilities such as performing on-site manufacturing diligence, interacting with clients and working in a corporate environment. Your work will vary by engagement – one day you could be working on a project to value a chemical plant and the next day you might be helping to analyze the value of telecommunication satellites or preparing client presentations and proposals. On top of this, you’ll need to be comfortable with a hybrid role, encompassing analytical solutions in both engineering and finance.
